Catch Tiles: Piano Game is an arcade music rhythm game where tiles fall down the screen in step with a song, and your job is to tap them before they slip past. Every tile you catch plays a note, so a clean run means you're pretty much playing the song yourself. Miss a tile and the music stops. It's simple to pick up, but keeping perfect rhythm on faster tracks can be quite difficult.
How to Play Catch Tiles: Piano Game
As soon as you start the game, you will land on the song menu. Each song in the list shows the track name, the artist, and a three-star rating slot that fills in as you improve your score. Songs with a green play button are ready to go. Songs marked with an orange Free button unlock by watching a short ad.
Finding Songs
Tap the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen to open the search and browse view. Here you can:
- Search for a specific song or artist by name.
- Jump back into your Recently Played tracks.
- Browse by Genre, including Christmas, Pop, Dance, and Classical.
Opening a genre shows you every track in that category, so it's an easy way to find new songs once you've played through the starting list.
Playing a Song
Pick a song and hit play to load the game board. The screen is divided into four vertical lanes, each mapped to a key on your keyboard:
A - S - K - L
Tiles quickly begin falling down the lanes in rhythm with the music. Press the key matching the lane as each tile reaches you. The faster the song, the faster the tiles fall, so keep your fingers resting on A, S, K, and L at all times because the game moves really fast.
At the top of the screen, you'll see a progress bar lined with stars and crowns. As you catch tiles, the marker moves along the bar. Reach the stars to earn your rating for the song, and keep going to claim the crowns at the end for a top score. Your highest score for each track is saved, so you can always come back and beat it.
If you want to do a health check, at the top, you'll see your player profile with your level, your hearts, and your coin balance.
If You Miss a Tile
If you don't click one of the dropping tiles in time, the run ends, and you'll need to watch an ad to continue. Hit the Continue Game prompt with the Spacebar, watch the ad, and you'll pick up right where you left off instead of restarting the song.
Themes
Above the song info bar during gameplay, you'll find a row of unlockable themes, including a swan, a fluffy white cat, a tabby kitten, a glowing heart, and a snowman. Each theme changes the entire look of the board, from the background scenery to the design of the starting tile, so you can customize it to something that gives you a bit more musical inspiration. Swap between them anytime to match your mood or the song you're playing.
Tips
- Never take your fingers off the keys. Keep one hand on A and S and the other on K and L so you never have to look down. The song can go quite fast, and every second counts.
- Start with slower songs to train your rhythm and your tap speed. Three-starring an easy track builds the muscle memory you’re going to need for faster tracks.
