Dye Hard is a team-based action paintball shooter game where the goal is to cover the board in your team's color while you take down as many opponents as you can before the round timer runs out.

How to Play Dye Hard

Dye Had is fairly simple in scope. You start off right in the middle of a paintball fight against other players, with a team of the same paint color to support you. There are three paintball colors in the game: red, blue and yellow. Each team is fighting to mark their territory with their color.

Covering territory is not just about vanity wins, more territory you cover, the more it helps with your playing techniques. The areas covered in your dye actually boost your speed and regenerate your health.

There are two game modes:

  • Team Brawl: Available from the start. 3v3 teams battling to control the board.
  • Battle Royal: Unlocks once you hit 50 trophies. Free-for-all, last one standing.

The hard part of the game is keeping your wits about you while you coordinate your moves. Coordination matters more than solo skill. You also need to eliminate enemy players before they eliminate you by paint shooting them till they are down. You’re not alone so when you get into a battle, look out for help. You're playing on a team, so make sure you have your teammates’ backs when you see them in a paint battle. Stick with teammates when you can. Getting painted when you’re on your own is a quick way to lose.

Turrets and Towers

Scattered around the map are turrets and towers you can fill with paint. Fill the turret as often as you can. Once filled, the turret automatically shoots at nearby enemies for you, including ones who wander near your respawn point. This is your best defensive tool, use it to protect your team's spawn while you're out fighting on the board. Fill the towers just as often. Same idea as the turrets. A filled tower keeps firing on its own, so treat it as passive backup while you’re out in the field focusing on direct 1 on 1 battles. Filling turrets and towers early gives you a defensive edge for the rest of the round, so it's worth prioritizing before you push deep into enemy territory.

Keep in mind that when you respawn, your enemy turrets and towers will be filled as well. So keep an eye out for that.

Dye Hard Weapons

The game gets fun when you can afford to upgrade your weapons. You start with the Paintrower, a solid starter gun but you obviously want to make your way up to stronger weapons which make battles faster and easier.

Weapons to upgrade include:

  • Rocket Gun
  • Machine Gun
  • Sniper Rifle
  • Shotgun
  • Automatic Rifle
  • Grenade Gun
  • Blobber / Big Blobber
  • Quickscope
  • Rapid Launcher
  • Striker

When you get a full artillery, switch between weapons you've unlocked to suit your play style. Upgrade your weapon as soon as you can. Better guns mean quicker wins in enemy fights.

Tips

Use the space-bar slide to move under obstacles blocking direct paths, it's faster than going around.
