How to Play Square Bird

The mechanics are simple: click to build square eggs. The eggs make a tower to keep you from hitting objects. As the game progresses, you'll need greater judgment to make the right number of eggs to avoid obstacles. If you make just the right amount of eggs to avoid the obstacle, you get a "perfect" landing.

The egg tower under your bird works as a buffer between you and the obstacles. When the blocks in your stack hit a wall or a ledge, they get knocked away while the bird itself keeps moving forward, so the trick is making sure only the body of the tower takes the hit and not the head! If the bird's head makes contact with an obstacle, you lose the round and have to start over once again. That's why judging height really matters - if you stack too few eggs and encounter an obstacle, your head will crash into the brick above. Keep obstacles aimed at the plain blocks under the head, and let them absorb the damage for you.

If you do crash, the Game Over screen shows your score next to your best and offers you two options. You can watch a short ad to pick up where you left off or click choose to restart from scratch. Reviving is worth it when you're well into a round and ready to top your best score, since a fresh start means rebuilding all that progress from zero.

Each game round tracks your progress across the top of the screen, with your score in the center, your coin total in the corner, and a progress bar showing how far you are from the next stage. The Challenges menu adds goals to chase beyond a high score, like reaching a target score, laying a set number of eggs, or pulling off five perfect landings. Completing challenges requires spending the stars you earn, with costs climbing from 100 up to 1500, and some milestones are Boss Fights that reward you with a brand new bird instead.

The more levels you complete, the more currency you earn. Use it to buy new skins for your bird and unlock new levels!

How to Get Fever Mode

Fever mode is activated when you make three perfect landings.

What is fever mode? Fever mode makes Square Bird shoot blocks ahead to destroy everything in your path. This shooting makes it much easier to get through the level, but you still have to look out for big drops and other obstacles that aren't affected by the blocks you shoot. Get fever mode as often as possible to score big points.
